About Joondalup Orthodontic Clinic

Dr Richard Lee is a registered specialist orthodontist with a passion for helping patients achieve their best smiles. He received his Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Western Australia. Dr Lee served as a dental officer with the Royal Australian Air Force after his dental training. He then returned to the University of Western Australia as a part-time clinical instructor in general dentistry while completing a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry with Honours. Dr. Lee continued his education and completed his orthodontic specialist training. He received his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) from UWA, focusing his research on the accuracy of computer-assisted surgical simulation for orthodontic surgical planning.

Dr. Lee received the AB Travelling Fellowship award and undertook an Orthodontic Craniofacial Special Care Clinical Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. This subspecialty training involved managing complex orthodontic conditions, including treating patients with craniofacial defects such as cleft lip and palate and those with medical and behavioural issues.

In addition to his work at Joondalup Orthodontic Clinic, Dr. Lee serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia, contributing to the education of future dental professionals. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Orthodontists and is Australasian Orthodontic Board certified. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Lee enjoys running, hiking, snowboarding, and all outdoors.

Dr. Gary Huang obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2002. He gained experience practising general dentistry for three years before attending the University of Western Australia, where he earned his Master of Dental Science in Orthodontics. Dr. Huang also passed the examinations to become a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

 Outside private practice, Dr. Huang is actively training undergraduate dental students at the University of Western Australia in orthodontics. To provide his patients with the latest cutting-edge treatments, he remains current on orthodontic advances by attending numerous continuing education courses and subscribing to relevant professional journals. Dr. Huang is a member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Society of Orthodontists, and the World Federation of Orthodontists. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with his family.
